[SOC] Need advice from SOCs

Clipping off the neutral prong love handles will definitely not burn
your house down.

I can attest to that since the handy homeowners that wired, re-wired
and "improved" my house over the years swapped hot and neutral
connections with reckless abandon in almost exactly half of the outlets,
sockets, etc, in my 50-year old abode.  Better yet, I have even
discovered copper and aluminum cables connected with wire nuts - still
no fires.

There are still a few outlets that don't work due to corroded or loose
connections.  I have been slowly remediating these quaint artifacts of
pure SOC engineering as the lights blink or go out at random.  It was
scary at first, but now since I've increased my life and fire insurance
coverage, life is good.

Hope I'm still here tomorrow
