[SOC] no more OO's

Over the years I have been an OO twice, both times for about 3 or 4 years (I’ve been a ham for almost 60 years). It was a way to put something back into the hobby.
In both cases I finally quit because so many OO’s had the notion that they were Radio Kops, and rather than an attitude of helping their fellow hams, they were only interested in how many “notches” that they could put in the “enforcement pistol handle”.
The program as intended was a great thing, but unfortunately it drew too many “enforcers” and too few “friendly helpers”. Damn shame.

A second opinion:
If I had a chirp on my signal and did not know about it, I would appreciate
the OO notice. Notices are only advisory and intended to help. That said,
I am sure some OOs went too far at times (I am pretty sure they did). In
general, I do not consider OO notices useless.
My two cents worth.
