It's not a rumor. If you look at maps of the ice sheet as 
it was 20,000 years ago and today, you see that an overall
warming trend has been going on since then. Also there is
evidence that our magnetic poles are in the process of 
reversing or getting ready to do so. Not sure what if anything
that has to do with the weather patterns around the globe.
About another 5,000 years and we should see some change 
back to increasing ice sheet and another ice age.
