Hi All,
I've posted something along these lines before so apologies for any
repetition.
I worked for a short while on voicemail systems (I'm embarrassed to admit).
The systems consisted of three main components: Hardware (VRUs - voice
response units), software to tailor to the application and the final
component is the human operators who have to deal with unforseen situations.
Within the trade, these operators were termed "wetware".
The trick is to get through to one of these operators.
One technique is to remain completely silent and do nothing. Most systems
will assume that you don't have a touch-tone phone and will default through
to a real hooman been.
Doesn't always work but it's worth a try if you're being given the runaround
by the software.
Paul ;-)
