[SOC] Concorde

Yes Paul, it was a bitter-sweet experience seeing the 'National Roar'
land at LHR for the last time.
It's a painful reminder of what we used to be, and what we were once
able to do.
It's the last machine built 'because we can', over here anyway.
Just imagine if someone tried to build Concorde today. The accountants
would laugh in your face, and the NIMBYs would be writhing around on the
ground clutching their ears in agony whenever it appeared overhead.
Just a pity that the USA wasn't involved in it, it would not have fallen
foul of American 'Not Invented Here' syndrome, and we would all be
jetting around the world at Mach 3 in 300-seat swing-wing Concordes by
now, instead of being packed like sardines into Mr Boeing's
'accountants-with-a-wind tunnel' designed anonymous 'profit centres'.
