There is a very recent decision from the Ninth Circuit which holds that the
Second Amendment does not protect indivdual firearms ownership. That could
well lead to a decision by SCOTUS (old RR telegrapher
for Supreme Court of the US) on the issue.
A SCOTUS decision is an unknown and could go either way on that issue. Or
SCOTUS could decline to hear the case leaving the decision as only the law
within the Ninth Circuit which includes California. SCOTUS has shown a real
past relunctance to deal with this issue.
