So I have been looking at a lot of technology in trying to identify
viable ways to communicate over a large area with a Technician Class
license without HF. Here is an oldie but goodie that may resemble the
early stages of WIFI. Seems packet may be making a come back. Here is

If you look close enough they have TNC kits for the Raspberry Pi and the
Beagle Bone Black. ($40 not bad)
