[SMCARA] Repeater Questions

Hi Dan et.al.
The 04/64 machine has been the mainstay repeater in Southern Maryland since about 1972. Being a conservative, I would be hesitant to change the format of this machine.The L. P. city machine has been the one that many have "cut their teeth on" in the VHF band. If the format was changed the cost of new equipment both at the repeater and for the users would need to be considered. If modified, I would hope that at least a second "normal" machine would be brought up to serve those not so sophisticated amateur users.

So what are the advantage and downsides to either. Both take up 12.5Khz
Bandwidth (DMR/System Fusion) as opposed to D-Star 6.25Khz.
