Thank you very much for this information, Lloyd. WFO Morristown, TN will
not let anyone who is not employed by the NWS access NWSchat, so this gives
me a way to at least monitor what is going on across our 39 county CWA. The
weather can be vastly different over the Cumberland Plateau or up near
Knoxville as compared to the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
However, it is important to note that WFO MRX is very ham radio friendly
with the WCM a general class ham operator. WX4MRX is outfitted with two
dual-band/cross-band VHF/UHF transcievers and a full HF system as well.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the terrain combined with covering
portions of three states, we do not have a linked radio system. When
activated, WX4MRX monitors seven different radio frequencies, but they tend
to remain on the frequency where the most severe weather is occuring at a
particular time.

So you tried to get NWSchat and were denied by your Weather Forecast
Office. https://nwschat.weather.gov/
Never FEAR. I'm from the Government. I'm here to HELP!
https://weather.im/iembot/ is a good second choice.
Type the WFO office you wish to monitor. Click the sound button. When
something post in the window, it beeps and it's time to pay attention to it.
Twitter is a good second choice.
https://twitter.com/iembot_XXX < replace the XXX with the three letter
code for you WFO
Follow it on Twitter and you get instant updates from the WFO.
Neither of these solutions give you full access to NWSchat, ex.
SpotterNetwork and discussion by media and emergency managers.
Still don't know the WFO that serves you?
Go to http://www.weather.gov/, type your zip code in the search field upper
left. The result is page with your forecast from your WFO. You should be
able to find your WFO information at the bottom.
Be safe, by all means!
