[Skywarn] Ham Radio License

Hello all,
First off let me introduce myself. I am a freshmen at DePauw University in
Greencastle, IN, and I hope to be a meteorologist someday. I want to get
involved in meteorology and I figured Skywarn weather spotting was a good
way to get some real experience. I do have a few questions though. My
biggest one is what are your thoughts on ham radios? What kind of license
is the best to use?
