Those that do well discussing Skywarn go unmoderated. I had originally set
the list to allow members to be unmoderated. My experience was not
pleasant. Moderation is our effort to keep the list SPAM free and ON
topic.
This last thread is almost worthless. Even the chaser list does better
than the burrito post.
If one is replying to a digest post, please don't quote the whole digest
back to the list. Please edit your post to the information you are
conveying.
As I recall, the original question was tips to improve reporting.
Perhaps this answer will help.
1. What did your local office tell you about how they want reports? Ours
gave us the phone number to call, the web site to enter reports, and
mention social media. Those are the reporting methods I use, including
amateur radio and NWSchat.
2. IF you are traveling, remember your local office. They can receive the
information and pass it along to the office that covers that section of the
USA.
I recommend this because I have experienced SKYWARN operatives ignoring
visiting folks because they did not know them. With the upcoming
credentialing effort, if it comes about, that problem should decrease. In
the mean time, I know that if I am in DC and I have a weather report, I can
call the Norman office to tell them.
I purposely redacted the original author's information because he DOES
offer information.
Moderating staff, please note this is a SKYWARN list. The CHASER list is
at WX-CHASE at listserv.illinois.edu. Please help the discussion stay on
SKYWARN.
Thanks for your attention.
