Hi, my name is Joe Keith, KF5S from North Texas. I served as a storm spotter in Southern Oklahoma beginning back in 1974, in the old "civil defense" days in the Murray County area of Southern Oklahoma. I was involved in almost all aspects of public service... from working as a certified police officer in Davis Oklahoma to serving my hometown of Dougherty as a volunteer firefighter and as their emergency manager. I retired from public service in April 2001 after serving 25 years. I still enjoy helping the area spotters in Southern Oklahoma including the Murray County Emergency Management with their weather net. I "retired" from actively spotting a few years ago, but I still keep up to date. I run NWS-Chat on the OUN, FWD and SKYWARN sites, along with GRlevel2 radar on the local computers. I have completed the spotter training courses on MetEd, plus the Weather Radar Fundamentals and Radar Signatures modules, along with dozens of the FEMA courses. We have a small group site on Facebook called SKYWARN WeatherCom https://www.facebook.com/groups/skywarn.weathercom plus, I have an Echolink Simplex Node 426572 on 146.600 simplex for weather use if needed. It covers most of Marshall and Love Counties in Southern Oklahoma and Cooke County in North Texas. Thank you for allowing me to join the list.
Joe, KF5S
