1 S unit is equal to 6db, if the S meter is calibrated correctly.
A vertical can't be equal to a 3 element beam unless the vertical is several wavelengths long. A 2 element beam should show a 5 or 6db gain over a vertical, and a 3 element beam should be 8 Db over a vertical.
