The Ringo Ranger will work locally just fine (across town) ground wave etc
with other verticals & vertically oriented beams. When the Band is wide open
Ionospheric (F layer Propagation) it will often work equal to a 2 or three
element beam. Of course that is Not true ALL the time. As far as 20db less
signal than a three element beam ? C'mon lets get real here. That would be
6.6666666 S Units the distant station would be seeing a difference of.
Remember 3 db = 1 S Unit. A 4 Element Beam and a Kilowatt could'nt do that.
In the long run you will be happier with a Yagi or a Quad Beam. Shop around
& a New Beam can be had for near the price of the Ringo. Arrow Antennas 4
Element Yagi is only $129.00 & NO other Manufacturer in the US comes
anywhere near it's quality of construction, materials, and ease of assembly.
When You have time Google L.B. Cebik. LB is now a silent key but his
legendary accumen of Antennas, and his ability to teach laymen about them
lives on in his website, books, CD's etc. Fun Reading & Learning. Whatever
You decide have FUN.
