The 20db crosspolarization won't come into play as much with Es propagation as the polarization gets changed about all which ways when the signal hits the ionosphere.  I would look for something with some gain, though, as that can make all the difference in the world. For $100 you can get a MFJ 3 element yagi which should have about 6db gain over a vertical and weighs about 3 pounds.  I used one last summer to work England, Wales, Canary Islands, Peru, and Colombia on.
