[SixClub] Those that care

I don’t know where such wild rumors and "urban legends" start, but there is
NO basis whatsoever in this statement...it is NOT 50% true much less 100%!!

The ONLY way to prevent A DIRECT or NEARBY lightning strike from damaging
equipment is to bond it all together properly in a SINGLE POINT ground that
is exothermally welded to a GOOD ground system....(several rods and a buried
RING)..SO the entire equipment RISES and FALLS at the SAME potential (both
the equipment AND GROUND potential rise/fall at the same rate)...otherwise,
ANY difference will cause damage if the delta V becomes too great and
exceeds max ratings for the equipment in question..THAT is what causes the
damage..

EVERY surge protector and grounding expert I HAVE talked with says the knots
in the power cable are urban legend and there is NO scientific basis or fact
on this subject..IF it works for you, you have been just PLAIN lucky...but
it doesn't work everytime nor for everyone...therefore it is NOT the correct
answer and you cannot depend on it.

Please stop urban legends in their tracks...if you have scientific PROOF of
such, fine...post it...but saying "it works for ME" doesn’t make it so or
right for everyone.

35+ yrs in telecom and broadcast engineering..and I HAVE had FM sticks take
direct hits and keep on working...because they were DONE right....(SP
ground, HALO system ring outside with multiple rods, FLAT copper strapping,
etc)
Factory trained by Transector and other protection manufacturers...who know
a lot more about it than I do.

For those that not not know, ( I think those that are Hams do) If you get
a lighting to hit your electric pole, can burn your equipment out. If you put
a over and under through type hook up, it'll burn to the wiring but not the
Equipment out(Choke) and all you'll have to do is replace your electrical
hook up to your equipment. It can be loose not tight.
