Well, if you've got an HF radio that doesn't have 6 meters, it's a savings
of several hundred dollars, perhaps several thousand. Say you've got an
Elecraft K2, or a nice Orion II. If you want 6 meters, it's a transverter,
or another radio.

Subject: [SixClub] transverters
All,
I have been researching VHF transverters, and am amazed at the price of
some
of them. Both Downeast and SSB USA have transverters in the $300 and up
range . . . what would be the advantage of buying a transverter like that
instead of buying an all mode HF/6 radio, for example?
Thanks
Trent
