Ben - I have owned a 706MIIG for over three years, and I have owned the
Kenwood TS-2000 for almost two years. Having used both at the QTH, I know
there is no comparison with the sound quality (send & receive) as well as
the signal reports I receive when using the 2000. I currently use the Icom
as a portable rig. In comparison, however, there's nothing like the Kenwood
rig to bust through the pile-ups. Also, I hear that Icom is discontinuing
the 706MIIG in favor of the new IC-7000.
