[SixClub] dipole orientation?

As far as the actual orientation is concerned, I have a question. If your
dipole is oriented (?) North/ South the radiating pattern is going to be
East/West - is that correct? If this is so, then my North/South dipole has
1/2 mile to the Gulf going West and the bottom half of FL going East! Would
I be better to re-site it East/West or is it not going to make much
difference when the band is open?
Thanks
