"I think", which means I don't know for sure...the rig specific means it has
the proper connectors already installed. That in itself is nice, nor do
they appear to be expensive. The "cords" appear to be long enough that most
of the mess can be tucked out-of-sight.

It's just conditioning, but I automatically associate a name like that with
CB. They may make excellent equipment, but...

That'd be me<:-)) I have so many projects going, including rebuilding two
HT32s, a SX-100, an SX-101 MK II, an SX-101A, an HT-33B (tested and ready
for the cabinet), plus building a 335 MPH aerobatic hot rod, I just don't
have the time or inclination to build a sound card interface/isolation box.
No, not all of those rigs are spread over the bench at the same time.<:-))
OTOH two and a half are... The half being a so called "hanger queen". OTOH,
I have airplane parts all over the shop, but I did find the floor the other
day.
I have one on the Icom 756 Pro and one on the old Icom 751A out in the shop
although I've done little with them either with the sound card interfaces or
on SSB. I probably operate more 6-meter SSB with a little CW thrown in than
any where else.
Actually they've been hooked up since last Spring , or summer but it's been
long enough I've even forgotten the name of the soft ware package(s)
The 756 Pro which is my 6-meter rig is no longer hooked to the computer as a
project needed that computer connection.
One thing I noted by going through some of the links... Share ware *used to*
mean you tried it out and if you liked it you could send in a *donation*.
There were no limitations or obligations.
Now it appears the phrase "share ware" is what used to be called "Trial
ware". Trial ware was just that. You tried a version which could have the
full capabilities, or limited. After so many days of uses the trial expired
and you either paid and registered the product or uninstalled it.
I liked the old phrasing better as it was self explanatory.
A couple of years back I purchased the MFJ interface. It was billed as
coming with all necessary software. It came with a CD loaded with what I
call "trial ware" and a few programs that did allow you limited use of the
system. All the good stuff cost extra. I had planned on purchasing their
full package but not being happy about the contents of the CD I called and
complained to them that the add was misleading. I was upset and the guy on
the phone didn't like my interpetation of share ware and I never did
purchase the full program. (Yes I did remaine polite <:-)) )
At my age I guess I can afford not to purchase something because I don't
like the name, or because the nomenclature used to describe it is different
than what it was when I was in the industry.<:-))
