RigBlaster or Build (Kit) my two cents...
The kits typically cost about $13 and make good sense if you want to
build and save money.=20
One advantage of the Rig Blaster is you can use VOX (provided the rig
has vox capability) if you're short Com Ports on the PC. Usually the PTT
is controlled by the pc Commport. Some stations operating portable with
a laptop use the com port for the GPS so the rig blaster is a good
choice rather than purchasing another com port. (However some GPS units
will work on USB ports)
The simple kit interface when checked / tested can be hid, out of sight
and out of mind when using the Acc plugs found on the back of the rig.
There again some older rigs don't have the accessory plugs for wiring
the interface signals so the Rig Blaster can make those connections
easier using the Mic Plug.=20
For me, the savings was significant. I actually have two interfaces and
use a switch to swap the soundboard from the IC746 to the TS2K. (each
rig has it's own interface)=20
The switch, cost less than a dollar from Mouser. So for less than $26 we
have two interfaces with a switch to select radio A or B.
