[SFDXA] my take into DXpedition funding

I want to jump into this discussion, I have been a member of the club since
'92, in 1993 I joined the board of directors, and has served in multiple
positions since then including 3 years as president.

In my tenure as part of the board we always received tons of requests for
dxpedition funding from multiple sources, some of them from known group,
some from new guys trying to get somewhere.

The club had a history of not funding until after, during my time as
president of the club, we tackle that issue, and created what it is today a
"dx pedition fund" which is the extra money that many of us send voluntarily
in each year when we renew our dues.

This money is then put aside to help fund operations, in the past we have
funded expeditions before happening such as KP5, K5K are a few others,
including one year the residual money was send to NCDXF.

Bottom line we are a dx club, and our main focus is to promote DX! Although
we are not a rich club! But we can from time to time afford to send money to
what we think it is a good operation that might be needed to some of the new
comers or even for some of us that still need some of the very weird ones!

It is easy to forget that this guys don't do this to make money, because I
been on the other side of the pileups, and truss me some of this places do
not have a 5 star hotel with cute waitresses bringing you rum's with an
umbrella in the glass while we are working the pileups! (no I will not show
my vp9 or kp2 photos! Hi hi )

In the past, I have made the recommendation to the bod that each year we do
a survey based on the country needs of all club member's, and that way we
can determined which operation should be more on the top of the list for
some funds.

At times during my time as president of the club, we were able to fund 2
operations, sometime only one. We are not a rich club, but we sure can
afford to send some money to legitimated operations!

I also due encourage all members that are active, to start calling in dx's
on the repeater, and even post info here in the reflector!

My 2 cents,

Steve
