Though I am slightly biased, I prefer the GRE based Radio Shack scanners as 
to any Uniden product...  The volume and quality of the sound is far better 
on the Radio Shack units...  I just purchased a 2096 on the sale price 
myself...  Awesome radio for the price...  Just my 2 pennies...
