Phil,
The study material varies with how you wish to learn the code... I
recoemend W5YI's Program... You sit at your PC and take practice tests.. You
can even print out practice tests to simulate the real thing.. If you go to
www.arrl.org you will find a lot of info and a linbk to w5yi.... Usually a
banner at the top of screen.
Right now there are 35 Questions... I believe you must answer 26 to
pass... Better get studying... The test is being revamped in July!!! Oh only
took my wife a couple weeks of study using w5yi and she passed ... What you
concentrate on while stidying with W5YI is only the correct answer do not
bother yourself if get it wrong it will give you the correct answer at the
bottom of page.. Then remember that correct answer for next time you get
that question... Cost is in the 30-40 dollar range for the software.. Well
worth it...
As far as where you can find that at arrl.org as well..
How much right now its $12 testing fee.. Regardless of if you pass or
not... But that is it for fees... If you pass you will get your license in a
couple weeks..
As a Technician Class only with no-code.. You can transmit within all
amateur bands above 30 MHz. There are no HF privledges until you pass the
code..
If you would need more info or like have me give you some study
pointers.. Just email me direct. [email protected]

Subject: [ScanIndiana] License?

What all is involved? I know for a technician license there is know Morris
code, and there are 35 questions. I live near Muncie and was wondering were
do you take the test haw much does it cost and what is the cost of getting
your license from the FCC? Is that all that is involved. What are the
frequencies that you can transmit on? I have been playing with the practice
test, but is there a book or a website that has a study guide? Sorry for
the long post and maybe this should be directed to the ham site.

Thanks
