800Mhz isn't really the problem. Toledo OH FD has been using it since the
early 90's with no issues, and utilizing many more groups than would EVER
have been possible on VHF/UHF. It's digital modulation that creates the
issue. A little static with a conventional (analog) system means you hear
most of the conversation but get a little static. A little static in a
digital transmission means you hear garbled, echo-ing noises at the best --
nothing at the worst.
