Way back in the 1980s Bob Grove, of Popular
Communication, told the FCC and the public that
these 800Mhz systems were not the "golden radio
freq's to end all radio freq's". Bob Grove also
predicted that after city after city were sold a
bill of goods by the manufactures, services
centers, and local installers / suppliers we
would see the systems beginning to fail. Well
they have and they are. If Greenwood elected
officials will spend another couple of millions
for "several" (meaning lots) repeaters to be
placed all over their city limits then their
radios will work. This what Howard County /
Kokomo Indian had to do just for an 800 Mhz
system. Bob Grove also was one of the first to
report the possible health problems using these
frequencies (800 Mhz and above)and now we are
reading and hearing on the evening news about the
possibility of health problems with cell phones.
The manufactures and their installers have been
saying since the beginning that there was never a
health problem....money from the manufactures
talks, buys elected officials, and does it's best
to dupe the public who puts their trust in the
products. It would be very interesting to find
out how well radio systems worked during the
9-11-02 World Trade Center Attack. What is the
answer? More education on these systems is a must
for elected officials. They should take the time
learn all they can about the "fail safe systems"
that are failing all over the country. W9FPJ
