You're being nice Ed. Every aviation publication that I've ever seen
states that transmitters will NOT be used by pax AT ANY TIME without the
explicit consent of the captain. I can't help but wonder if he got caught
trying to transmit. If so, he's doing good that some of the pax didn't try
to throw him out mid-flight! I'm naturally suspicious of long stories
where a grain of truth is concealed amongst the first person viewpoint. As
you said, what does United say since we've already "transitioned" from "had
my equipment" to "request had been made to keep it turned off"?
