[Scan-DC] SEPTA Railfan Guide and Signals

Old thread, but recent development. While cleaning my cubicle last week, I found an 8GB flash drive. Guess what I found on it - the last copy I had of this software. I quickly made additional copies of it on various computers.

This is really nifty. The files show the signals used locally by CSX, which are compliant with NORAC rules. A lot of websites do that, but these signals are animated GIFs. CSX has yellow-over-green signals, and it has yellow-over-flashing green signals. There is a difference. These files have a flashing green signal that really flashes.

The files are too unwieldy to send as an attachment. They can be transferred via a flash drive in a USB port, or Firewire, or wirelessly. I have tried the files on a Dell laptop at work (during lunch, of course), a PPC-based Apple G4 iBook running OS X 10.4.11, and a Sylvania netbook running WinCE. (There was a thread about those at Scan-DC back in 2012 or so.)* The signals showed up correctly on all those platforms.

I prefer not to put them up on the cloud, as I don't own copyright to them. The author seems no longer interested in having them on his website.

Somehow I'll have to spread them around.

"Quest for a cheap digital scanner." It was renamed "China netbook." http://mailman.qth.net/pipermail/scan-dc/2010/015156.html

....
There used to be a site, http://felttip.com/svmetro/septawatch/signals/, with animated gifs of NORAC signals. When I could no longer find it, I wrote the author. He said he took it down and won't be restoring it. Do you know if anyone saved a copy of that page? I used to have it, but I lost what seems to have been my only copy.
