[Scan-DC] Good, strong, analog signals in Arlington area?

I agree that the DCA Helo freq of 134.35 MHz is worth
checking. That will get you the military and med evac flights. I
listen to it in Tysons and it is quite active because published helo
routes converge there and because the helos switch from DCA to Dulles
control there.
It might sound odd, but you should try the DCA Tower UHF of 257.6
MHz. I find I can hear it around the vicinity of DCA when I can't
hear the VHF. Some of the DCA stuff is transmitted from an
installation in a residential area in Arlington, a hilltop site which
would be overlooking DCA had not someone built Crystal City in the
way of it. But I haven't been up there in a couple of decades, so I
don't know which freqs are there. If you listen to the DCA UHF,
you'll hear the tower but few aircraft. Even the military flights
tend to stay on VHF.
And you might try Pentagon Tower on 143.1 and 241.3 MHz. Not too
active, but often a good signal.
The towers (everywhere) tend to be low powered and I often can't hear
them when I am close to airports in other cities.
