Actually the FCC is doing this to clear the 700 MHz band for Verizon,
AT&T, etc.
The White Spaces devices will have to protect the Part 74 wireless
mics and will have to compete with the newly-designated (formerly
illegal) Part 15 wireless mics for spectrum.
