[Scan-DC] Wind shear makes interesting Nationalairport towerlistening

National tower is on 119.1. Two flights had 15 knot loss of airspeed at 500
ft and decided to go around, the third one was a windshear alert (in the
cockpit) at 200 ft. The pilot sounded a bit unnerved when he was
communicating with the tower for go-around instructions. All of the
windshear reporting was coming from the pilots. The tower did not mention
any airport-mounted windshear alert systems, but you would think National
has them.

A go-around at 200 ft must have been quite a thrill for the passengers!

Yeah, nuts to that! What frequency - I guess approach, right? I have the
tower frequency programmed in, 119.1 I think it is, but don't usually hear a
whole lot on it out here...

All the big (major) airports have wind shear detection systems now, don't
they?
