[Scan-DC] Half a submarine going past the window?

It looks like a propulsion ("azimuth"?) pod to me.  This is the  latest thing 
to replace propeller shafts.  The pod hangs down below the  stern of a ship 
with a motor inside it (the pod) and a propeller mounted on the  end (the right 
side in the photo).
