Been there for a week or ten days... it now uses WinDoze Media Player
instead of Real. I wondered what was going on... for the past couple of
months, maybe more, the old links were not working more often than they
were... I have a buddy who is a retired MCFD firefighter; he tried to find
out what was happening but wasn't successful. Some time ago (before they
redid the radios, but after they went to 800 MHz), there was an internet
link to the 7-Golf talkgroup but it didn't last long. The story we heard on
that was something about server issues...
******************
That same friend was digging around in the FCC database one night and
discovered that the KGC-334 callsign has been cancelled (RIP)! The end of
an era... that had been in use since I started scanning (make that
"monitoring"!) in the late 1960s and "Headquarters" (or "Fire Board") was in
the bomb shelter in the basement of what was then called The County Building
in Rockville. The new call that they use on the Mutual Aide channels is
WZX-459. (My Morse isn't good enough to decode the beacons!).
Squad 51, KMG-365, time out 1125.
