Governor Minner to broadcast at Amateur Radio Field Day

Georgetown, DE - To mark the 75th anniversary of Amateur Radio Field
Day, Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner will attend activities at the
Sussex County Airport, Saturday June 23, 2007, at 2 PM. The Governor
will proclaim June as Amateur Radio Awareness Month as well as have
the opportunity to speak to others on-the-air via amateur radio.

Field Day, sponsored by the American Radio Relay League
www.arrl.org<about:blank>, the leading voice of Amateur Radio, is an
annual exercise focused at communicating during times of emergency.
Locally, the Sussex Amateur Radio Association (SARA) and Nanticoke
Amateur Radio Club (NARC) have combined efforts and will set-up under
field conditions at the Sussex County Airport in Georgetown Delaware.
The exercise begins at 2pm Saturday and continues through 2 pm Sunday.
Other agencies participating in the SARA / NARC exercise are Delaware
National Guard, Delaware Emergency Management Agency, Delaware State
Police, Sussex County Airport and Sussex County Emergency Operations
Center.

Following remarks at 2pm Governor Minner and other dignitaries will be
given a tour of facilities and the opportunity to "call CQ" (make
radio transmissions) via amateur radio. Event organizers are
coordinating a special "Governor's Net" whereby Governor Minner will
attempt to contact the Governors from the States of Connecticut,
Maine, and Mississippi (and perhaps others) via amateur radio.

The public is welcome to attend.
