[Scan-DC] Civil Air Patrol Ops

trying to get it out to at least some of you guys in the local area.


All,

Over that last few days have been hearing Civil Air Patrol aircraft 
on 149.5375 NFM.

Hearing CAP Flight 1801, 1802 & 1803 performing what appears to be 
traffic observations at about 1200 ft in the area of the Chesapeake 
Bay Bridge. There are usually two acft working the area at the same time.

The acft are passing their observations on to a Bridge Ops (not 
heard). One of the acft also reported hearing an ELT near the South 
River and indicated they had reported it to the Bay Patrol Duty Officer.

I wasn't personally aware that traffic control was part of their 
mission but it appears that is the case since they have established a 
couple of control entities as well as a set of known checkpoints that 
they reference in their traffic reports.
