I gotta agree with Al. when I first got my 796, I had no idea... and the 
manual is pretty bad... getting the software helped significantly, and then 
once I got to playing with it, I understood the whole mess... that's one way 
technology has changed... digital trunking scanners are far from "plug and 
play", there's a pretty steep learning curve and a fair amount of diddling 
around before you can go "on the air", so to speak.

Right now, I'm in Ocean City MD, and I can't seem to receive their EDACS 800 
MHz digital trunking system... gotta play with that tomorrow... arrgh!  I 
want to listen, not fuss around with the radio!!
