  About as strange as you attributing a post to the wrong person or 
maybe just not knowing how to post at all.

Beside's even if the ol'boy doesn't have any scanners maybe he's 
trying to decide if to get one.

Which , I suppose to some , is a big decision.

  At any rate...as one poster noted...having online help available 
can be invaluable. It was in my case I know that.

I purchased a Uniden model 996T. It was giving me fits until a guy 
turned me on to some software that made life much easier after I 
posted for help.
