Many years ago, I'd go over to Fenwick Island from time to time. I would
walk down the beach to the amusement park at OC. There may be some radio
traffic from that. About ten or so miles inland is the airport where the
planes that drag the banners over the ocean land and take off. They might
not have too much radio traffic, as their flight pattern is routine. Of
course, anything can happen. FRS and GMRS ought to be amusing.
One of the most astonishing catches I made at the beach was WABC, while I
was in North Carolina near Wilmington. This was in the middle of the day.
It came in as soon as I got within a few hundred feet of the ocean, on my
car radio. That's the coastal effect at work. I mean, it was as if I was
in Manhattan, it was so clear.
