Larry, Alan, Mike, and others who responded. Wow. It
was cool to find so many responses in the inbox this
morning and from people I have read and seen their
work online and otherwise. Appreciate it guys. Well, I
am sad to hear that the club meetings have gone the
way of the gooney bird. I like meeting new people and
hearing their stories. With your help I have found
some good lists to be a part of though. Thanks for the
words of advice and I will gladly sign up and take
part in the discussions.
I have been told several times now that my Pro 95 is a
gooney bird and that I have to go get a new
digitrunktracker right away. I know that's colorizing
it a bit but I guess my response is "Hey, I just got
this last week." I'm not even real fluent with the
programming language here yet. I will eventually want
a digital trunker but for now the absence of a county
in Maryland and a couple of cities in Northern Va will
not kill me. I'm still learning all the ins and outs
of what I bought and won't be worried about what I
haven't got yet. The BC 996 and 396 look like good
options when I do get ready to go though. I think it
was the 396 I was reading about yesterday that had 3k
memories. Three thousand! I'm having trouble making
banks to fill the 1k that my Pro 95 does. Maybe that
will change with time. Also kind of daunting as I'm a
Linux user and there are currently no programs written
for interfacing/programming scanners using the Linusx
OS. I use Knoppix and there are some cool ham radio
programs for it but no scanner programmers that I can
find so far.
I am working on banks for air shows in the DC area,
Mil Air monitoring, and local waterways. If anyone has
any freqs that I may not find online please let me
know.
Again, thanks for the nice welcome guys. Have fun
scanning. Let's see; in my martial arts stick-fighting
list I sign with "Stay sticky", in my amateur radio
list I say "Stay Hammy", I guess here it'll have to be
"Stay freqy" LOL.
73 for now.
