[Scan-DC] Cable TV Intereference - can better cabling help?

G'day,

I'm receiving a lot of cable tv interference on my new dual band HT; there's
no way to scan the 2M or VHF public service bands. The interference is much
worse than a year ago, when I added more components on my cable (digital
cable receiver, cable modem, splitter). The cables I'm using to connect the
components appear to have low quality connectors on the ends.

Does anyone know if using higher quality connectors/cables will help, or
does banishing the cable model to a shielded corner of the basement help?
