The Gaithersburg Gazette has a story on the plane intercepted on Monday
evening, apparently, it had been hit by lightening.

"Two jet fighters escorted a small Canadian-registered Cessna to
Montgomery County Airpark in Gaithersburg Monday night after it flew into
restricted airspace near Washington, D.C., authorities said.

The plane had been scheduled to fly from Knoxville, Tenn., to the airpark
but was struck by lightning during the flight, causing it to lose its
electrical system, radio and identifying transponder, said Laura Brown, a
spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration.

"It was a very unusual weather-related situation," she said."
