[Scan-DC] which files to use for the R5?

  Cathy and other R5 owners - any of the files (with the exception of the 895/2053 version, since it doesn't include the VHF milair freqs) should import just fine. The .fss versions of the files that are out there are really .csv in nature, and can be mapped with Excel very easily. Since the R5 doesn't use 'banks' in the traditional sense, those files might be the best way to go, as all the freqs listed are in 1 single 'bank'.

  As for software support, there are 2 packages I know of that say they support importing comma delimited files;

  http://parnass.com/tk5/

  You may just need to rearrange the columns to fit the programs' import requirements. That shouldn't be a big deal to accomplish.

  Of course, probably the best place to get software recommendations is the Yahoo group devoted to the R5:

Do you know if there are any files set up to work with the ICOM R-5 with
this data(or simililar)? I haven't bought any software so far, as I heard the ICOM version wasn't very good and Butel was supposed to be writing some (which has not appeared after several years). I could break down and get the ICOM software if I had some purpose for it. Thanks for any pointers, as I haven't participated in the groups you mentioned.
