I'd suggest taking the scanner indoors if at all possible when the
temperature gets too low (say below 50 degrees or so...)


In the optimal world that might be nice but living in the mountains of
Colorado at 9,500 feet elevation our normal winter temps are low about -20
and the high most days is the teens. 

I run two installed 780's and also two Pro-96's which I take mobile each day
and have never had any failures due to cold temps.

So maybe in SC they remove the scanners under 50 degrees but that would not
be practical for me and would mean about 340 nights a year for me and I've
never had problems.
