Not so. A few yars ago, a cruise ship off the east coast of the
United States ran aground because the GPS system went awry, sending
the boat on a wayward course. Some crew members noted that land was
not where it was supposed to be, but the decision was made to ignore
those visual indications and to rely on the GPS nav system, to the
ruination of what was likely to be a pleasant cruise for the paying
customers.
