[Scan-DC] Depends on technology

There are times it just takes common judgement when relying on anything. I was just looking at the 2005 version of Microsoft Streets & Trips. It shows 3 or 4 motel icons in front of the DuPont Plant in Richmond, these motels are actually located in Fredericksburg. True it is Jefferson Davis Hwy and apparently the same street addresses can exist in Fredericksburg and Richmond with only the ZIP code differing. Goes to show, how much else could you rely on in any mapping program.
Not so. A few yars ago, a cruise ship off the east coast of the
United States ran aground because the GPS system went awry, sending
the boat on a wayward course. Some crew members noted that land was
not where it was supposed to be, but the decision was made to ignore
those visual indications and to rely on the GPS nav system, to the
ruination of what was likely to be a pleasant cruise for the paying
customers.
