(Don't mind me, that's what happens when you descend into slow lunacy) :.)
===========
Last nite, Doug K. schreibt:
Interesting item last night - apparently not all the medevac helicopters got
the word that Muttgummery (fire) jumped to 800... last night one of the
Medstar copters was en route to Holy Cross, called HQ on VHF... I finally
phoned them to tell them that the copter was calling. Then, E-191 couldn't
talk to them - copter didn't want to land at Holy Cross due to
construction/no lights on the tower crane there... 191 and HQ recommended a
couple of places - nobody could talk to anybody - I think HQ was landline
with Syscom - copter wound up landing at Blair High School at 4 Corners, but
HQ and 191 didn't know where they were!
(Muttgummery is obviously not monitoring 154.16 any more - earlier when I
was at lunch, RESQ engine 3-3 called them on VHF, they said the only reason
they heard them was that someone in the PSCC had a VHF portable on - but
RE3-3 doesn't (yet) have an 800 radio.)
========================
Hmm, I thought that 153.95 and 154.16 were the only 2 VHF hi band
channels being retained; everything else was being dropped. Why wouldn't
Mont still be monitoring 154.16?
Inquiring minds want to know :.) Guess it's time to put these 2 freqs
into the 245 and let them fly. Even tho I work in PG county, I still
shouldn't have any trouble hearing them from there....73s Mike
