Fox news tonight reported it was a DOE helo doing routine "radiation
mapping". I work at 17th and Pennsylvania on the top floor (13th floor of a
commercial property) with an unobstructed view of the mall, Capitol,
Pentagon, etc. It seemed like I could reach up and grab a handful of skid
it was so low. We watched it do a methodical east-west pattern that stepped
down southward. Good look at the markings (or lack thereof). Silver/blue
lighting bolt pattern. I knew it wasn't an Eagle from the US Park PD. These
birds are well marked. As a Department of the Treasury employee I routinely
listen to the fed cops (USCPD/USSS(UD)/Park PD) and they were asking their
dispatchers what it was.
BTW: can anyone verify the MPD aviation units call sign/equipment/home base,
etc?
Thanks,
Rick
