[Scan-DC] variety of questions

Hi,

Put a lot of freqs into my BC245XLT. Having fun here.

Might take my small dog (JRT) to watch and listen to
the planes at DCA today. A few questions...

1) Since the DCFD is trunked and my scanner has
trunked capability, do I simply enter those
frequencies into the scanner to listen or do I have to
do something else/special?

2) What does ARTCC stand for?

3) What does ATIS stand for?

4) What does Unicom mean?

5) Is "Metro Traffic Control (450.9125 and others)"
the WMATA Metro system?

6) What is the best way to listen to the weather on a
scanner in the DC area? Any special alert channels,
too?

As always, thank you for everyone who has the patience
to bring me up to speed.
