Hey there,

Switchover date in August 26. Perhaps a bit optimistic but training is 
already under way. They are training the trainers now and then in June the 
police and fire rescue people will be trained. The equipment is starting to 
be installed as we speak. They are 800 Digital astro for the system but 
154.160 will be simulcast not only for listening but they will have a 
crossband repeater set up so all those volunteers w/ portables can still 
transmit on the old channel 2 in case they happen upon a incident to either 
call it in or place units in service if needed. So you will always be able to 
hear the dispatch - but it's the other channels that will become more 
difficult to read. Also Montgomery County fire still plans to broadcast thru 
their web page for both dispatch and fireground ops.
