I am trying to get a group of scanner hobs together that live in North
Potomac and Gaithersburg for one common goal. To make an Emergency
Monitoring Club. People who wish to join in this task will regularly have
to monitor all of the following bands for emergency messages:

The Family Radio Service
The Multi Use Radio Service
The General Mobile Radio Service
CB Channel 9 and 19 (if scanner is capable)

These radio services are constantly used by families and other non-profit
groups, and it would be nice if a certain group needed some emergency help
or assistance, someone would be there to help them out.

The only requirements are that you are capable of monitoring those
frequencies for at least 1 full hour a day. Monitoring is a necessity, but
being able to communicate back (even though not required), would be nice.
So if you have FRS, GMRS, MURS, or CB trancievers, that would be a great
plus!

If anyone is interested in joining the brand new Emergency Monitoring Club
of Gaithersburg and North Potomac (the EMC-GNP), please email me. I will
then work out with you what times and days you need to monitor all those
frequencies. If there is enough people who respond, we might even create an
FRS "net" that will meet weekly on a set frequency. Because those radios
only run on .5 watt, we will use third party communications so that everyone
will be able to keep on touch.

Thanks,
Bill
